In the main men's World Series competition, Fiji got their tournament started with a 31-12 win over Samoa, and New Zealand beat Russian Federation 36-5.

Fiji had come to Hong Kong looking to raise spirits back home and grab a slice of history with a fourth straight title win - and an 18th overall. The team now heads to Australia to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

South Africa finished third after beating New Zealand 29-7 but its lead in the world series was cut to three over Fiji.

Kenya replied immediately via veteran Collins Injera who raised 1300 world series points to put him in the top-10 on the all-time list.
