Hannity vows to attack Kimmel until TV host apologizes

"I, too, will give my words more thought and recognize my role in inciting their hatefulness", Kimmel promised. In the tweets, Hannity labeled Kimmel "Harvey Weinstein Jr." and #pervertkimmel. "By lampooning Sean Hannity's deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize".

Sean Hannity and Jimmy Kimmel's war of words has officially ended... for now. Kimmel appeared to be taken aback but instead of taking the high road, returned Hannity's invective by calling him "the whole a** circus".

The late-night host said he still thought his initial joke was an innocuous rib about the first lady. "On the surface, it seems to be a forced, Disney apology directed to the LGBT community rather than Kimmel's comments about the first lady". While he did not apologize to Hannity, he did offer regret for the joke that started the entire episode: "Mrs. Trump nearly certainly has enough to worry about without being used as a prop to increase TV ratings".

The dispute between the television personalities is unusually vitriolic, with Hannity calling Kimmel a "sick, twisted, creepy, perverted weirdo" during his Fox show Friday. Trump, who is originally from Slovenia, speaks English with a pronounced Central European accent.

He went on to admit, "I do really kind of enjoy a good fight, and I do agree with Jimmy in the sense that it's time to move on".

After being called a "despicable disgrace", Kimmel accused Hannity of hypocrisy: "This is the guy who defended the multiply alleged pedophile Roy Moore", referring to the Alabama Republican Senate candidate. "Why don't you rant a little about that, Sean Hannity?".

"I read the apology carefully, [and] a couple of things are pretty clear to me", he said.

The fight with Hannity migrated to social media, too, with Hannity digging up old clips of Kimmel engaging in crude sexual humor on The Man Show, which Kimmell co-hosted from 1999 until 2003.

Hannity says he'll address Kimmel's statement on his Monday show.

In the end, however, Hannity is apparently happy to let the flames die down, provided everyone agrees to leave Melania and President Trump's son Baron off the list of Late Night Joke Targets.

Sean - and full disclosure I write columns over there at the Hannity website - has also invited ex-FBI Director James Comey on both his radio and TV shows.
