LeBron James notches triple-double as Cavs drop Game 1 to Pacers

The Cavaliers had their lowest-scoring first period of the season and only five baskets with six turnovers in the opening quarter, drawing boos as they walked off at half-time trailing 59-38. Myles Turner had 16 and eight while Bojan Bogdanovic added 15 points. They did not panic when LeBron James and his crew revved up in each of the final three quarters. Many thought the Pacers were ripped off in the deal and could have gotten much more for their star player. The Cavaliers' high water mark was when they trailed by seven, 76-69, with 10:29 to go in the game. So I think, next game we'll be more relaxed."Clarkson (2-of-6) said he wasn't nervous, "just thinking instead of playing". "We came into this game with the mentality we were going to attack at both ends of the floor and play like we've been playing all year". "It just hasn't been magnified". It's kind of shocking to everybody. Oladipo's playoff debut with the Pacers served as a mere continuation of the first All-Star campaign of his career, which has seen him average 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Indiana's Victor Oladipo was the standout performer in their National Basketball Association play-off win at Cleveland.

Pacers will snap LeBron James's streak of 21 straight first-round playoff wins.

To all of those hot takes, I say, chill the heck out for a minute. We're fully aware of LeBron and his team, and we know it's not going to be easy. That doesn't mean coming in we just fold. "We're planning on winning". But we're not going to come in here and just fold.

The Pacers cruised to an 18-point road victory in Game 1, taking control of this series. Are this year's Pacers ready to take the next step they couldn't with Paul George? And most of what they did worked.

"I get to rest", James said.

Cleveland's George Hill got blind-sided on a pick by Pacers reserve Trevor Booker in the first half, then his back stiffened up. The final few minutes were especially odd.

The Pacers were far the better team in every phase in Game 1. In his post-game press conference, LeBron had some pretty big comments about the Cavaliers playoff hopes following the big loss.

Down 1-0 in the first round.

James recorded a triple-double for the Cavs, scoring 24 points with 12 assists and 10 rebounds, but no one else in the starting lineup scored over nine points (Kevin Love and Rodney Hood). "I'm anxious about my team and coming out to play one game at a time until we beat them". Once they do that, their physical game will follow and they won't be chasing 20 points after the opening stanza. They were more precise in what they wanted to do.

We're not scared of you.

"Listen, it's fun", James said of Stephenson. They handled Game 1 just fine. Cleveland is the oldest team in the league, and in showed it can get in opponents' faces on a nightly basis.

They calmly walked off, business as usual.
