The American actress, who already has five-year-old son Cyrus with husband of nine years Hugh, would not disclose the gender of their second child.

Beginning back in 2011, Homeland stars Danes as Central Intelligence Agency case officer Carrie Mathison, with Mandy Patinkin co-starring as Carrie's father-figure mentor Saul Berenson.

"I've always wanted to have kids, but I'm glad I didn't until now", said Danes at the time. She shared, "The director's a really dear friend, she's been working on the show since the second season". "I can't speak for Claire or [co-star] Mandy [Patinkin], but it will be my final year and it will be created to be the end of an eight-season story", Gansa said.

Claire and Hugh are also the parents of son Cyrus, 5.

"Was this planned or are we having a surprise?"

Danes mentioned as much during an interview on Howard Stern, in which the discussion eventually turned to her long-running series.

It looks like Showtime may be preparing to say goodbye to one of its mainstay dramas.

The radio mogul asked her to reveal the baby's sex, humorously hinting that he'd welcome another exclusivity. But she did joke that if it's a girl, they could name the little one "Howardina", after Stern.

However, the couple - who got married in 2009 after meeting on set of "Evening" in 2006 - have made a decision to keep the gender of their second child a secret until it's born. "I feel so fortunate, in that I've had this arrow-straight focus that I wanted to act".

Claire and Hugh fell in love during the filming of Evening in 2007 and quickly became inseparable. We can not wait to meet your little one in just a few short months.
