A woman shot her husband's mistress dead then turned the gun on herself after discovering their affair.

Jennair Gerardot, 48, is suspected of fatally shooting 33-year-old Meredith Chapman, a former colleague of her husband, Mark Gerardot, with whom he was believed to have an affair with.

Radnor Police said that Luke Chapman does not reside in the home on Lowrys Lane. Gerardot allegedly disguised herself with a wig and traveled by train from Delaware.

Mark Gerardot, who received texts from his wife prior to the deaths, has been cooperating with police. "She was lying in wait, and she shot her as soon as she walked in, and then she shot herself".

The alleged assailant's body was found near the kitchen, not far from Chapman's body WACU reported. Investigators said the killings apparently stemmed from a domestic situation involving the two women and Gerardot's husband, Mark.

Chapman had recently started working at Villanova University as Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Creative Services and moved into the home in Radnor Township.

Police revealed the wife plotting "revenge" in a series of text messages and emails upon learning of her husband's affair with the younger woman. In 2016, she unsuccessfully ran for a DE state Senate seat as a Republican in 2016, losing out to Dave Sokola. "When she didn't show up for dinner, that is when he got concerned and went to the house", Police Superintendent William Colarulo said.

Police believe that Jennair Gerardot ( police spelling Gennair Gerardot), 47, of Wilmington, De., entered the property by breaking a pain of glass in the door.

Chapman, a 2007 graduate of the University of DE, worked for the school in media relations and marketing and ran unsuccessfully for a state Senate seat in DE in 2016.

"Our hearts are broken by the devastating loss of our new colleague", he said.

Chapman was married to Newark City Councilman Luke Chapman, who could not be reached Tuesday. She loved her family fiercely, was a compassionate friend and among the most talented and innovative professionals in her field. Dave Sokola, D-Newark, but lost by just five percentage points. "May her light forever shine brightly as we commit to preserving her legacy by coming together to find common ground, lifting up our communities, and doing right by our neighbors".

Hours before her death, Chapman, tweeted: "Couldn't be more excited ... just a week on the job and I'm already feeling the love from #NovaNation".
