In a special interview with Today Show's Hoda Kotb, Kim and Alice meet for the first time and talk about the life-changing moment the 63-year-old found out she was going home.

"When she said that, I went into full-fledged Pentecostal holy dance", Johnson recalled.

Talking to Good Morning America on June 7, Johnson said: 'When Kim told me that I was being released, I started jumping and screaming and crying, and everyone else was crying'. "I was amazed, too".

"We cried, maybe, on the phone for, like, three minutes straight", an emotional Kardashian West told CNN, recounting her advocacy for Johnson and her role in Trump's decision to grant her clemency.

When asked why she made a decision to champion Johnson's cause outside social media, Kardashian, who first shared Johnson's story with her 60 million Twitter followers in November, said she had tunnel vision.

After speaking with Ivanka Trump, Kardashian was able to set up an oval office meeting with the president last month to ask for clemency for Johnson, she said. She added that Trump, with whom she has clashed politically, "had compassion for her right away; he felt like it was the right thing to do". "I mean I already knew just by talking to you on the phone and just seeing you in videos, but I mean you are everything and more than I ever thought".

The rest of the interview will be aired on Today, er, today, but we got a behind-the-scenes peek at Alice and Kim's bonding sesh thanks to social media.

"Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades", the White House said in a statement.

She said she is now focused on the future - and wants to bring attention to other people who were in similar situations to her. So, she started to do her homework, gathering whichever magazines she could find to learn about the mogul.

"People have been asking me are you getting into politics?" "I've lived it. I've walked with 'em".

Johnson revealed she is both grateful and protective to her advocate. "I don't have Facebook", she said. "So under the new administration, I just believe this is part of the whole plan of God to show everybody that you can get a miracle from the least likely sources". "This has fulfilled my heart and so since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?" My life is completely intertwined forever with those who were left behind.
