Samsung sees profit growth slow in Q2 as competition heats up

"The semiconductor sector fell short of expectations but its outlook for the second half of this year is rather positive as demand for DRAM chips is solid. Therefore, chip prices are expected to remain strong", a Samsung official said on condition of anonymity.

"With new flagship smartphone model launches, every content will increase in midrange models because smartphone makers support high-specification mobile games on device AI and dual camera as differentiation point [s]", Chun said.

RAM sales are high, and Samsung expects demand to continue to rise in the second half of its fiscal year.

Samsung shares slid 0.3 per cent by 0620 GMT, compared with the flat broader market. In response, Samsung will seek to expand sales by introducing a new Galaxy Note earlier than usual, which offers exceptional performance for a reasonable price.
