West also had a sartorial suggestion for Trump, proposing a hat that says just "Make America Great" - dropping the "again".

It's Thursday and if you need some hard-hitting news right now, here is your daily dose of insane, courtesy of American rapper Kanye West, who met with President Trump at the White House, earlier today.

As expected, he made sure to gush over Trump, defended his right to be conservative despite his race and yelled at reporters that Trump is not racist and saying that 'I love this guy, ' before standing up to give the president a big hug.

Rapper Kanye West is seated while meeting with President Donald Trump and others in the Oval Office of the White House, Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, in Washington.

"That's really nice", Trump said, beaming toward the cameras behind the right shoulder of the man they call Yeezus. "That was quite something", Trump said.

"It was from the soul". "Could very well be", Trump responded.

"I had the balls to put on this hat", the 41-year-old artist said in defending the red "Make America Great Again" hat that he wore for his meeting.

"When Kanye came out a couple months ago, something happened", Trump said.

West was invited to the White House to have lunch with the president, former National Football League star Jim Brown, and the president's son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner to discuss manufacturing, prison reform and gang violence. "I just channelled it".

West, a long-time Trump supporter, also decried the allegedly widespread expectation that all black people should be Democrats.

Rapper Kanye West had a few things to say when he stopped by the White House for a visit with President Donald Trump Thursday.

Mr. West said his intention is "to release the love throughout the country".

In a wild, 10-minute soliloquy, West also launched at least one F-bomb in the Oval Office, described his rhetorical style as "fine wine" with "complex notes", and said he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and was actually sleep deprived which can lead to dementia.

Kanye's wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, sat down with the US President earlier this year to discuss criminal justice reform. "So we are looking for - we are actively looking for other situations exactly like that".

West is not the first member of his family to meet with Trump.

The lunch portion of the meeting was to include a Caprese salad, roasted chicken, fingerling potatoes and asparagus, according to the White House press office.
