On Friday, no jackpot winners were selected in the Mega Millions drawing, which had a grand prize of over $900 milion.

A Knoxville Powerball player won $2 million in Saturday night's drawing.

The numbers drawn Saturday were 62-16-54-57-69 while the Powerball was 23.

As for the main jackpot, it is now up to $1.6 billion.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The next Mega Millions draw will be held on Tuesday.

"Mega Millions has already entered historic territory, but it's truly astounding to think that now the jackpot has reached an all-time world record", Gordon Medenica, lead director of the Mega Millions Group, said in a statement.

If a player hits all six numbers to win the jackpot, they can opt for an immediate cash payment of $904 million or receive the $1.6 billion prize over 29 years. According to the N.C. Education Lottery, which offers Mega Millions tickets, a single victor in Friday's drawing would have received $565.6 million if they took the cash option.

The odds of winning the jackpot are about one in 302 million but, with so many tickets being purchased, the likelihood of rollover becomes increasingly slim.

Last year, lottery officials raised the price of Mega Millions tickets from one to two dollars and that has in turn meant larger prizes. There are smaller prizes, from $2 up to $1 million, for matching some, but not all, numbers.

The Mega Millions jackpot hasn't been hit since July 24th when 11 workers in California split a prize of $543 million.
