Apple iPhones, iPads to retail via Amazon from January

The deal underscores how top brands such as Apple and Nike, which long resisted distributing products via Amazon, are increasingly turning to the e-commerce site because it has become a critical channel for reaching customers.

A new deal between Apple and Amazon is about to make it even harder. Amazon previously sold only older model iPhones. When Amazon was ramping up its Fire connected-TV system, it stopped selling Apple's streaming TV boxes in 2015.

Apple's HomePod smart speaker, which directly competes with Amazon's Echo products, won't be sold on Amazon for bvious reasons. "We look forward to expanding our assortment of Apple and Beats products globally".

Apple will begin selling its iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch directly on Amazon's websites in India and other worldwide markets as part of a global deal struck by the two technology titans.

As for the deadline, effective January 4th, Apple products from third-party merchants not authorised by the Cupertino, California-based technology company, will be removed.

Now Apple has announced that customers can have a free screen replacement, with customers who have already paid for the fix able to request a refund.

The company said it only affects the original iPhone X, which has been superseded by the iPhone XS and XR released this autumn.

We'll see listings for the iPad Pro, 2018's iPhone lineup, and the Apple Watch Series 4 go live on Amazon at some point in the not-too-distant future, along with Apple's lineup of Beats headphones (many of which are already officially offered through the retailer). The company didn't respond to a request for comment Friday evening. That may sound tiny compared to Amazon, but it's impressive when you consider Apple is selling a very limited selection of products.
