In addition to showing the new teaser, Netflix posted an image on the official Stranger Things Twitter account to confirm the July 4th release date.

Netflix announced the Stranger Things 3 release date on New Year's Eve in a new teaser trailer and date announcement.

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things has been a huge hit for Netflix with its mix of horror and sci-fi, and the copious nostalgic references to 80s pop culture. The video is apparently footage of the final moments of Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin' Eve as the viewers watch the big apple drop to ring in 1985.

In one of the more obvious hints, the phrase "One summer can change everything" lingers on the screen for several seconds.

Fans who were quick on the PAUSE button noted that certain words in the code were highlighted, and the message read, "When blue and yellow meet in the west".

Netflix is making sure Stranger Things fans start 2019 with some good news.

The new season will again feature Eleven (Mille Bobbie Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink).

It's a good thing you will probably already be off for the Fourth of July. "It would be a mistake for anyone to think that season 3 is the summer of fun and lightness because it's a whole lot more than that".
