Three Things that Kept Chicago Bears from Beating Eagles

Cody Parkey missed a 43-yard field goal attempt with five seconds left that would have given the Chicago Bears an 18-16 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in their NFC Wild Card playoff game on Sunday. They had an awesome season.

For whatever reason, the man is lights out when the Eagles need him most, which he displayed yet again in their thrilling victory over the Chicago Bears during Wild Card weekend.

The season is now over for the Bears, but the defending champion Eagles, who scraped into the playoffs just a week ago, march on as they bid to retain their title. But after signing a four-year contract last March, his first season in Chicago didn't go the way he envisioned.

"I thought I hit a great ball and was trying to play the wind", Parkey said. We have real friends in this locker room, it's not just teammates. But he hit uprights on six of his misses.

Parkey missed a total of 11 field goals and extra points this season, so the next question is will the Bears bring him back next year or move on to a new kicker.

The Bears could also be in the market for a defensive coordinator if Vic Fangio gets a head coaching job. Chicago led the National Football League in rushing defense, takeaways (36) and interceptions (27) while tying for third in sacks (50).

Parkey made the Pro Bowl as a rookie with Philadelphia in 2014. "That would be really cool".
