Singer Joy Villa made a political statement while attending the 2019 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 27-year-old singer walked the red carpet as United States President Donald Trump's controversial border wall, complete with barbed wire on her shoulders, a spiked headpiece and a Make America Great Again (one of his campaign slogans) purse.

In 2017, she made waves on the red carpet for wearing a dress with the phrase "Make America Great" printed down the front and the name "Trump" at the back of her gown. The ensemble's designer, Desi Designs, posted some watermarked images on Instagram. "I support what the president says about building the wall, so that's what this dress represents".

On the Grammys red carpet, Villa, who called herself a "trailblazer", told THR, "I'm here to support the wall, not the president".

Ricky Rebel also surprised attendees as he wore a blue jacket with the words "Keep America Great" and "Trump 2020" over a white blouse, pants, and boots.

When the singer first arrived on the red carpet, she wore a silver overlay covering her dress, but eventually removed the layer. "I 100% support the wall & our President @realDonaldTrump", she tweeted.

"I grew up in theater, so I've always used costume as a way to express myself", Villa said.

And it looked as though she was keen to stir up controversy once again by dressing as Trump's longed-for border wall. "When I chose to wear the Trump dress, I figured that most people would try to ignore me, they'd be so upset".

She elaborated on her viewpoint, saying that about a third of women "who are trying to come to this country illegally are sexually assaulted".

Last year, Villa, who gave up a child for adoption, opted to make a pro-life statement with her gown. "And I'm reflecting millions of Americans out there who voted for Trump".
