Fortnite remains the hottest battle royale game on the planet for now, but Apex Legends is fighting to take over. That was before Apex Legends, though, which has found a ton of early success since its surprise launch last week.

Fortnite has been the king of the castle in the battle royale genre since the game mode was released on September 26, 2017, but it has had to deal with its fair share of competitors. There are also respawn machines dotted across the map, meaning that even if you die you can be brought back to life, should a teammate collect your "banner" on time and successful deliver you to one of the respawn points.

Apex Legends, the video game rival to Epic Games' smash hit Fortnite, has amassed 25 million registered users just one week after its launch, publisher Electronic Arts announced late Monday. With lots of new players discovering Titanfall through the free Apex Legends, EA has made it very easy for them to jump into Titanfall 2. Threads have since popped up on the Titanfall 2, Apex, and PC gaming subreddits from players giving it a go or encouraging others to, and the consensus is in: Titanfall 2 still kicks ass. This key feature - which we didn't know we needed, but can't live without now - allows players to focus less on overwhelming inventory management and more on jumping right into the fight.

During its first three days, Apex Legends drew in 10 million players, 2.5 million of which were during the first day.

This all comes amidst a stunning first week for the game. Each character adds exciting new ways to approach a match with a different level of strategy mixed in. What do you think about the stream sniper epidemic hitting the top Fortnite streamers, and do you think Apex Legends handles the problem better than the competition?

Obviously, this side-by-side comparison of Twitch performance needs to come with a reminder that Apex Legends has only been out a week while Fortnite has dominated the platform for a year.
